No, the brain actively interprets sensory information based on a lifetime of learned associations and prior knowledge. This means two people looking at the same ambiguous image might see different things because their brains "fill in the gaps" based on past experience. An engineer and an artist looking at a steam engine would likely notice and interpret different details based on their respective training and interests. One part of that seeing phenomena, that I as an artist like to capture, is how manipulating the light and rearranging the objects can challenge our perception of what and how we expect to see our world. The resulting images are usually unique and sometimes even transformative.
